UMD-7.5 Blast Wheel is designed to generate a high-velocity, directed stream of steel abrasive media for shot blasting of metal products. The blast wheel is used as part of shot blasting machines to remove scale, rust, residual molding sand, and other surface contaminants, as well as to prepare surfaces for subsequent painting and the application of protective coatings.
Steel shot of the appropriate size distribution is used as the working abrasive. The abrasive supplied to the blast wheel enters the distribution unit and is then directed to the rotor. As the rotor rotates, the abrasive is accelerated by the blades under centrifugal force and discharged from the blast wheel as a high-velocity, fan-shaped, directed stream.
The 7.5 kW electric drive ensures rotation of the blast wheel rotor and maintains the required shot blasting intensity. The design of the blasting unit provides stable formation of the abrasive stream and uniform impact of the shot on the surfaces of the workpieces being processed.
The direction and shape of the shot blast pattern are determined by the design of the distribution unit and the position of its control opening. Correct adjustment of the blast pattern makes it possible to direct the main portion of the abrasive stream onto the workpieces, improve cleaning efficiency, and reduce wear of the protective lining of the blasting chamber.
The main working components of the blast wheel include the rotor, throwing blades, distribution unit, and abrasive feed components. During operation, these parts are exposed to intensive abrasive wear; therefore, the design allows for their periodic inspection and replacement.
To ensure stable operation of the blast wheel, the condition of the throwing blades and other wear parts must be monitored. Significant differences in their mass and degree of wear should be avoided. Uneven wear of the working components may cause imbalance of the rotating assembly, increased vibration and noise, and accelerated wear of the bearing supports.
Abrasive media is supplied to the blast wheel from the storage hopper through a metering system and regulating valve. Stable and uniform abrasive feed ensures consistent blast wheel performance and uniform processing quality throughout the operating cycle.
If the electric drive is equipped with variable-frequency control, the shot blasting intensity can be adjusted by changing the rotational speed of the blast wheel rotor. This makes it possible to adapt the operating mode to the dimensions, weight, shape, and material of the workpieces and to reduce the risk of damage or deformation during processing.
The UMD-7.5 blast wheel is designed for intensive industrial operation. Regular maintenance, timely replacement of wear parts, and monitoring of rotating assemblies ensure stable equipment performance, efficient use of abrasive media, and a long service life of the blast wheel.
