Walk-In Shot Blasting Chamber 14000×6000×4000 mm

Walk-In Shot Blasting Chamber 14000×6000×4000 mm is industrial equipment designed for manual abrasive blasting of large metal products and structures. The chamber creates an enclosed working area where the operator performs surface treatment using steel shot or another suitable abrasive material.

The dimensions of the working area allow large metal structures, welded assemblies, beams, frames, industrial equipment components, and other workpieces requiring surface cleaning and preparation to be placed inside the chamber.

Chamber Application

The chamber is used to remove rust, scale, contaminants, and residues of old paint and coating materials. Shot blasting prepares the surface for subsequent painting and the application of protective and anti-corrosion coatings.

The treatment is performed manually by the operator, allowing thorough cleaning of complex-shaped products, welded joints, and hard-to-reach areas of structures.

Workflow Organization

The workpiece is placed inside the chamber, after which the operator performs surface cleaning using shot blasting equipment. The enclosed design prevents abrasive material and cleaning residues from spreading outside the working area.

The chamber can be equipped with ventilation and air filtration systems, lighting, abrasive collection and recovery equipment, as well as additional systems depending on production requirements.

Operation

During operation, it is necessary to monitor the condition of the chamber's internal protective lining, abrasive supply and recovery system, filtration equipment, and working hoses. Regular maintenance of the main components helps ensure stable equipment operation and the required cleaning quality.

Important: Achieving the required cleaning quality (class Sa2.5 according to GOST R ISO 8501-1-2014) without geometric distortion is possible only when using steel shot with a fraction size of no more than 1.0–1.5 mm and hardness HRC 40-45 (for rolled products up to 4.0 mm). The final selection of the modes (turbine rotation speed, transportation speed and fractional fraction composition) is carried out during the commissioning work on the Customer's samples, with the optimal parameters recorded in the installation passport. The presence of frequency converters in the standard configuration makes it possible to guarantee the preservation of the geometry of workpieces with a thickness of 2.0 mm without loss of productivity. This solution is included in the cost of the equipment and does not require additional investments.

Shot blasting chamber

It is a prefabricated metal structure consisting of load‑bearing elements attached to each other. The chamber body is lined with panels (filled with mineral wool) 80–100 mm thick. On one side, the chamber body is equipped with hinged doors. (or two doors if the chamber is of the pass‑through type) The chamber doors are equipped with a light‑and‑sound alarm system with a lamp installed outside, which indicates that work is being carried out inside the chamber, as well as doors (one or two) for the passage of maintenance personnel. The doors are equipped with special viewing windows with protective glass.

The scraper conveyor is the core component of the abrasive return system.

In the lower part of the shot blasting chamber, there is a system of scraper conveyors. The longitudinal scrapers collect the shot across the entire floor area of the chamber and feed it into the transverse scraper. The transverse scraper transports the abrasive to the bucket elevator, and from there it passes through a separator into the storage hopper. The structure is made of metal trays. Movement is ensured by a geared electric drive, which guarantees stable and uniform feeding. Thus, a closed cycle of abrasive circulation is formed: after processing the workpiece, the shot is returned to the system, undergoes cleaning, and is then supplied to the nozzles again.

Screw separator for cleaning fractions

The separator is designed to clean the contaminated abrasive mixture coming from the shot blasting chamber, removing dust, scale, and mechanical impurities. The contaminated shot is fed into the separator housing through the inlet opening. Under the influence of the vacuum created by the centrifugal fan, the light fractions (dust, fine scale) are carried away by the air flow into the dust removal system. Heavier particles (rust, large inclusions) settle in the dirt collector and are removed through a pipe into a prepared container. The largest and heaviest fractions are directed into the cavity between the deflector and the front wall of the housing, from where they are also discharged through the outlet. The cleaned shot enters the storage hopper and returns to the operating cycle.

Bucket Elevator

A vertical elevator (noria) is a vertical conveyor with a belt and buckets; the continuous movement of the buckets lifts the crushed material to the separator. The drive for the upper housing is located in the upper part of the vertical elevator (noria); the driving element of the bucket conveyor is a belt, to which the buckets are attached. The drive for the upper housing rotates the drive drum, which allows the belt to start moving due to the friction force between the belt and the drum. There are 3 hatches for servicing the belt and buckets: A hatch on the upper housing, an inspection hatch on the right side of the lower adapter, and a hatch on the lower housing. The lower housing of the vertical elevator is connected to the loading port of the cross‑screw housing. The loaded buckets are raised to the upper housing, where the shot is discharged into the separator.

Shot collection bunker

The shot collection bunker is a fully welded storage tank made of sheet steel with external stiffening ribs, installed above the shot blasting machines. In the lower part, pneumatic shut‑off valves (supply valves) with remote control are installed; they ensure instant opening/closing and smooth adjustment of the shot supply to each machine. The valves are designed according to a normally closed scheme, which prevents the spontaneous supply of shot in the event of an emergency shutdown. The hopper is equipped with a loading hatch with a sealed lid, sealed joints, and operates within an aspiration system, ensuring stable feeding of the throwers without dust generation.

FVU 15300 dust extraction system

The filtration and ventilation unit is designed for highly efficient purification of dusty air discharged from the shot blasting chamber and separator. It ensures the collection of fine dust, scale, and microparticles of contaminants generated during the operation of the equipment. Operating principle: Dusty air enters the dust collector housing, where large and heavy fractions settle in the lower storage hopper under the influence of gravity. Finer particles are retained on the cartridge filter elements. The purified air is released into the atmosphere or may be returned to the working area (depending on the adopted ventilation scheme). Automatic filter regeneration system: To maintain a stable level of purification and extend the service life of the filter elements, automatic pulse blowing with compressed air is provided (operating pressure 5–6 bar). The regeneration cycle is controlled via the control cabinet controller: blowing is carried out in rows (one row of filter elements per cycle) at a predetermined time interval. The operator can adjust the interval and purge modes from the control panel, adapting the system’s operation to the level of dust contamination in the workpieces being processed and the condition of the filters. Waste collection and disposal: The collected dust and large contaminant particles accumulate in the lower hopper of the unit and must be disposed of periodically in accordance with the company’s environmental regulations. The hopper is equipped with a convenient discharge pipe.
